CURSOR  (the searcher)
Kurtyka's entry to the exhibit for Souvenirs of the Bay Area.

"This is the giant cursor I built and painted for the show in San Francisco called Wish You Were Here --Souvenirs of the San Francisco Bay Area Created by Artists. It's called Greetings from Silicon Valley and I described it like this:

Its face includes a variety of skin colors--like those whose work brought it to life and began its search (some got rich, many made a living, bought homes and raised families--some families broke up because of the stress and long work hours.)

Its not polite to point--so it acquiesces silently to our every whim--cursoring across the colors and flashing lights of your screen--pointing to knowledge as well as opinions informed by ignorance and poor reasoning--searching for doorways and plateaus of understanding as well as reinforcement of suspicions and prejudices

IF KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, THEN ACCESS TO KNOWLEDGE MIGHT BE THE NEXT BEST THING
Witnessed in person you can really feel it.

Cursor By John Kurtyka

It's painted on wood with high quality acrylic paint on a wooden framework. It comes in three pieces (for easier transport) and bolts together from behind.

I'm asking $4500 (or best offer.) Please forward this info to anyone you might think would be interested --I think it would be ideal for a software, computer or IT company (or anyone who searches.) I have more pictures available. Here's my website for more about me.

Thanks,
JK
